Freeport is a city in Brazoria County, Texas within the Houston–Sugar Land–Baytown Metropolitan Area and is situated in Southeast Texas.
Port Freeport came into being more than 100 years ago when the first jetty system was built in Freeport, Texas. Since that time, the Port has become one of the fastest growing ports on the Gulf Coast, and we are currently ranked as the 14th largest port in the United States in terms of foreign tonnage.
|   | Key Factor | |
Port Freeport's three-mile proximity to open water and readily available berth space offer savings of both time and money in moving general cargo. Our 400-foot-wide, 45-foot-deep channel will accommodate most handysize vessels and also assures ship operators a fast, safe turnaround. The short distance from sea buoy to inner harbor keeps pilot fees competitive, and there is dependable tug service on short notice. Stevedoring rates are equitable, as are wharfage and dock charges. Here again, we are able to compete effectively with larger ports, but we also add an element of efficiency and personalized service.
